Music is an oasis that refreshes us in our journey of life.

Music can be soothing, exciting, exhilarating. It can move our hearts and enrich our lives, which is the goal we at Accuphase seek through audio technology.

This was the idea behind the slogan “Enrich Life through Technology” which originally brought together the group of very highly skilled audio experts who conceived and today produce the successful Accuphase line of audio equipment. It is the guiding principle behind all Accuphase components whose high grade can be considered extravagant. Just as there are exquisite musical instruments that are especially highly prized, we believe that the same applies to audio components. This belief forms the basis of our design concept. It is the reason why we strive to build extra value into each of our units so that they will display fully the merits of hand construction.

The name ACCUPHASE was adapted by taking the prefix ACCU from the word “accurate”, and combining it with PHASE which is a most important factor in audio technology. We feel it is a very fitting brand name to describe our products that fully portray this and other important characteristics, which penetrate the innermost depth of audio technology. Our endless pursuit of quality requires a very high degree of processing which persuades us to avoid the use of mass production systems. Consequently, production volume is limited and Accuphase products are available only at a restricted number of specialized stores.

Accuphase equipment is not subject to the whims of market fashion since they are made, above all, to achieve true high fidelity sound reproduction. This is the foremost reason why our products have enjoyed long-run production.

The A-80 is a stereo version of the 50th anniversary model A-300, and is a pure Class A stereo power amplifier that pursues reduced output impedance and constant voltage drive to bring out the full potential of the speakers. It is a flagship model. The power amplification stage uses 10 parallel push-pull class A operation using power MOSFETs, achieving linear high power outputs of 65W/8Ω, 130W/4Ω, 260W/2Ω, and 520W/1Ω. In addition, noise performance has been improved by using an ``instrumentation amplifier'' whose signal input section is composed of a balanced circuit, ``ideal gain distribution'' between the signal input section and power amplification section, and ``MCS+'' which is a two-parallel circuit. has been raised to the maximum. Additionally, a damping factor of 1,000 has been achieved by reducing output impedance through balanced remote sensing and semiconductor switches. In addition, it is equipped with a protection circuit that prevents short-circuit accidents of the speaker terminals, so you can use it with confidence.

Did you know Accuphase is 50? No probably not. Accuphase has has been beavering away for half a century, with the same management, same factory and, most importantly, the same company mission. In a nutshell and in my own words: To build the highest quality Audio products in the service of Music. I used my own words because Accuphase have committed their corporate motto and company stance to print. Please have a wander about their demure website and dig out these gems to discover the real reason why most Accuphase owners are "rusted on".

Without even a whisper, Accuphase are celebrating by presenting us with a range of "50th Anniversary" models. Four are natural evolutionary upgrades of existing models. The flagship pre amplifier C-3900, flagship power amplifier A-xxx, flagship transport DP-1000 and flagship processor DC-1000 get this treatment.

The greatest surprise is a pair of totally new integrated models. The New flagship Class A called E-800 was the first off the line and has been a outstanding success at least here at Revolution turntable and throughout Australia. And now the new flagship Class AB integrated, called the E-5000, is here to put to bed any ideas that integrated amplifiers don't have what it takes to drive hungry speaker systems. This machine combines the precision front end of their pre amplifiers with 240watts per channel of speaker gripping horsepower.

Accuphase are not calling this newly minted C-2900 precision pre amplifier a member of their 50th Anniversary club. Inexplicable I know because this fabulous machine is second only to the superb flagship C-3900. Bettered only by the smallest of margins and significantly more affordable too. Indeed I am going to pronounce the C-2900 the flagship pre amplifier that can accept an internal fully featured and configurable MM/MC phono stage, called the AD-2900.

Joining the E-800 flagship class A integrated, the E-5000 flagship class AB integrated, the aforementioned C-3900 flagship preamplifier, the stunning C-47 fully balanced phono stage, the DP-1000/DC-100 flagship digital player processor and the soon to emerge 50th anniversary power amplifier(s), this fabulous preamp is as far as I am concerned an Anniversary Model ... and my favourite!
