Accuphase simply do not do this often, that is, introduce a totally new product. The all new E-800 takes it's place alongside the C-3850, A-250 and DC/DP-950 as the Precision flagship model in the already impressive line line up. As desirable as this new machine may be, we should perhaps take a moment to reflect on the Anniversary aspect.
Fifty years is a long long time in audio history. Sure we still have many of the famous marques, Krell, Levinson, Audio Research, Luxman, Marantz and so on, the list is extensive. But few if any can trace their ownership, location and importantly, manufacturing culture and philosophy, as a single unbroken steadfast thread to the very first day the Institution "Accuphase" was born.
For those readers who may wonder about the Accuphase mystique and whether it is justified. I would suggest a visit to the Accuphase website and peruse the company philosophy manifesto. In a nutshell, the brand is simply uninterested and therefore untroubled with growth, outside shareholders, changing fashions and new technologies (streaming) until the technology in question is mature and 100% reliable.
Accuphase really only have two masters. Firstly they are a slave to the appreciation of the musical art form. After all that is the function of the equipment, to deliver music in the finest manner possible. The second master is that of craftsmanship and again, the finest quality possible, that music enthusiasts, like you and I, might aspire to.
