• The Response D48 was designed and built to replace ProAc previous flagship floorstander, the Response D40. By any measure this must have been a huge challenge as the D40 achieved cult status during it's production run. ProAc doesn't introduce new models just for fun or fashion, so the new D48R can be considered a totally new design. Indeed all it shares with the D40 is the cabinet size and the Brand name!

The Ribbon tweeter is a standout but the changes and improvements do not end there. The Mid/bass drivers are also a new ProAc design and likewise the crossover, designed by Stewart Tyler and assembled using the finest components.

So like the D40 but better. A more expansive soundstage, more detailed midrange with smoother more extended frequency response. The bass is tighter and even more tuneful. A worthy successor.

  • ProAc Response D30S

ProAc have updated the D30 to a D30S. Still available in a dome or ribbon tweeter - Response D30DS and D30RS respectively. ProAc have developed a new bass driver using a cone similar to that used in our Response D48, the cone is made from pulp and Mika and is coated with an acoustic dope it also now has a phase plug to improve detail at the crossover point, which will give a more natural sound. The Response D30S' now offer a beautifully flat response. The new bass driver and crossover will give better mid-range detail and a wider sound stage. The D30S offers an exceptional accurate portrayal of the music with powerful bass response and excellent midrange detail with low colouration. They also offer a resistive load and are easy to drive. We use a crossover with the finest quality components split for bi-wiring and bi-amping through our beautiful nickel silver terminals.
  • ProAc Response D20R Loudspeaker

    $15,095.00

    Response D20D and D20R

    ProAc’s most successful designs.

Available with the choice of either a dome (D20D) or a ribbon (D20R) tweeter.

The cabinet design uses the same type of bass loading as the D30S and D48 models which makes the speaker easier to position with respect to its frequency response. The result is a wonderful open and expansive midrange with a substantial bass and sweet and detailed high frequencies from either ProAc tweeter option. A large sound stage is also a bonus.

  • Moving Coil

Once you get bitten by the Vinyl bug and start to embrace the wonderful world of analogue playback you will discover that Turntables are, an assembly of three separate devices, namely the turntable, tonearm and cartridge. As the quality of the equipment increases you will also discover that these parts are usually interchangeable and upgradeable. None more so than the cartridge, the smallest part but the most influential in terms of sound quality, providing of course that the table and arm are modestly competent.

Moving coil cartridges have always been considered exotic and desired by enthusiasts. Why, simple physics really. The stylus picks up the modulations in the groove, transmits them up the cantilever where, it must articulate either a magnet (MM cartridge) or a coil (MC cartridge) to generate the electrical signal. Now a finely wound coil is much lighter than a hunk of magnet hence the stylus tracks better and easier, the cantilever flexes less and the coils generate a superior signal. Like I said simple physics really. So why then do we have moving magnet cartridges then? Again not rocket science, they are cheaper to make, a lot more robust, easier to use and resistant to abuse. These reasons make the MM cartridge standard for entry level systems and need not be dismissed as within these constraints there are fine and worthy examples.

Moving Coils are the holy grail and this always comes at a cost, usually MC cartridges are north of a thousand dollars, (there are several notable exceptions, Denon DL-103 and Audiotechnica OC9-III for example). Until now! Hana MC cartridges, made by Excel Sound Corporation (Japan) have shattered this price point. Both Elliptical and Shibata versions versions are available in both high and low output configurations making for an easy match for any phono stage. The SL and SH both are priced at an affordable $1195.00 making this well reviewed device a must audition for anyone moving up in the listening stakes.

  • The Debut Carbon Evo Acryl has taken over from the Pro-Ject Esprit as Revolution Turntable favourite entry level turntable for those wanting to start out in vinyl playback. Manual tone arm controls, electronic speed control, belt drive from a sorbothane isolated precision DC motor spinning a high mass acrylic platter. An 8.6inch carbon fibre tone arm together with a Ortofon 2M Red cartridge completes the playback package. Chassis mount RCAs and an adjustable dust cover add to the user friendly features of this capable machine.

Straight out of the box the Debut Evo Acryl is a great performer, however the basic design is so sound that the table will respond well to tweeks, enhancements and improvements. Not the least of which would be more advanced cartridges, record clamps/weights, better cables,  platter mats, isolation platforms and superior phono stages.
