Accuphase DG-68 Digital Voicing Equalizer

Accuphase DG-68

Digital Voicing Equalizer

Since launching the revolutionary DG-28 in 1997, the DG series, which combines sound field correction (Voicing) and sound field creation (Equalising) functions, has been pursuing the ease of use and high electrical performance. DG-68 is a successor of DG-58, released in 2013, adopting the latest devices and further improving AD-DA conversion accuracy.

In VOICING mode, the DG-68 measures room acoustics accurately and eliminates extreme dips and peaks such as standing waves. This improves the localisation of vocals and the expansion of  sound stage dramatically. In addition to automatic adjustment of   target characteristics, it is also possible to draw desired target curve in the manual mode or to correct room acoustics according to the customer’s own loud speakers.

By performing Voicing and Equalising, it is possible to achieve the ultimate ideal sound.

Description

Accuphase DG-68 Digital Voicing Equalizer

50th Anniversary model

In 1997, Accuphase introduced a product which revolutionised the concept of the graphic equaliser and made headlines in the audio world: the Digital Voicing Equalizer DG-28. Follow-up models in the DG series, culminating in this, the latest Accuphase DG-68, brought further improvements which garnered more praise and led to the recognition of the Voicing Equaliser as an indispensable component of the ultimate audio system.

The high-resolution, high-definition colour IPS LCD panel allows the use of a stylus pen to directly draw any desired response curve. Intuitive operation and a full complement of sophisticated display functions make sound field compensation swift and easy while giving the user full control. Setting data as well as display screenshots can be saved on a USB flash drive for quick recall at any time. The DG-68 brings out unknown possibilities in music reproduction by controlling the sound field and tone exactly in accordance with the user’s preferences.

What is a “Voicing Equaliser”

The Voicing Equaliser from Accuphase brings together two major functions, namely sound field compensation for optimising the acoustic properties of the listening room, and a graphic equaliser for adjusting individual frequency bands and thereby controlling the tonal quality of the music being played. A supplied precision microphone is used to measure the acoustics of the listening room and enable the automatic creation of the sound field as desired by the user. The graphic equaliser function then enables further fine tuning and flexible tonal adjustments. As the word “Voicing” also has the meaning of “tuning”, the product was named with the idea of tuning the listening room
